The Vice President, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo has cautioned politicians to play politics according to e rules and stop promoting unwholesome tendencies that are capable of polarizing the polity.

Vice President Sambo was speaking today at the empowerment programme of Senator  Sahabi Ya’u at Kauran Namoda in Zamfara State.

He stressed that “Nigeria is a united and indivisible country under God and that had He willed that we belong to the same faith, no one can do otherwise but He chose that we should united in ethnic and religious differences”.

Recalling our past political experience, the VP noted that “we have lived in harmony and operated our political equation based on the two faiths”.  He said “Tafawa Balewa and Nnamdi Azikiwe worked together,  Shehu Shagari and Alex Ekwueme, Obasanjo and Atiku Abuabakr, Umaru Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan and now Goodluck Jonathan and Namadi Sambo, which is an acceptable formula across the nation”. He also noted that other political, parties have emulated such practice and have severally chosen pastors as their running mate.

Sambo noted that he does not see why some politicians are whipping up sentiments that the two foremost political parties are divided over religious lines. He drew attention of the audience to the meaning of his middle name  as the one that belongs to the holy city of Medina.

He enjoined the people to vote  enmass for the PDP as it was the party that has always championed their interest, promising that he would soon come back to Kaura Namoda in a train ride as the rail line has been completed.  He recited the first verse in the Holy Quran called faithful kitab while the crowd chorus with him.

Earlier at the residence of the Minister of Defence, Gen. Aliyu Gusau, a reconciliation meeting was held where all the gubernatorial aspirants promised to work with Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi popularly known as MAS, to deliver Zamfara State to President Jonathan and the gubernatorial candidate.

Several dignitaries graced the occasion some of whom were Governor Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State, Ministers of Transport, Foreign Affairs and Defence. Others include former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa and the gubernatorial candidate of Sokoto State and host of other personalities.
