We are Ready for the Polls: NSCDC Boss

March 26, 2015
At the end of a 3-day retreat organised by the NSCDC to reassess her activities, strategies and deployment towards the peaceful conduct and monitoring of 2015 general elections, the Corps Commandant general Dr. Ade Abolurin reiterates the Corps readiness for both the March 28 and April 11 elections.
While briefing the State Commandants, Zonal Commanders and the top management team at the NHQ, Dr Abolurin stresses that the Corps has put in place necessary machineries towards discharging her mandate in the forthcoming elections.
He charged personnel to embrace peace and work hand in hand with other sister security agencies for efficient manning of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials, the polling venues, election officials and protecting collation centres and other designated areas.
The Corps Chief Executive assures Nigerians of adequate preparation by the Corps as personnel have received adequate training and sensitization towards their election duty and in carrying out all other functions of the Corps.
The Commandant General also called on all political leaders to ensure they mobilize their supporters to shun violence and any act inimical to the peaceful conduct of the elections as any one found wanting would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
He advised parents to take full control of their children and not allow them to be used as political thugs or as tools in the hands of political miscreants during the elections. Everybody should be mindful of how they move on the day of election and report suspicious characters in their vicinity, says Abolurin.
