Nigerian Defence Health Facility Upgraded By W.H.O For Ebola Vaccine Study.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has been applauded once again for the effective and successful manner she tackled the outbreak of Ebola disease and it’s eventual total eradication and also being declared EBOLA free by W.H.O. This has resulted in Nigeria being recognized by the global health sector as suitable upgraded to host an Ebola Vaccine Study Centre.
The lesson the world took away from that outbreak was the need to be prepared at all times, hence the upgrade of the Ministry of Defence Health Programme to become one of the Study Centre for Ebola Vaccine in Abuja. This is indeed historical for the benefit of humanity.

The Minister of State for Defence, Col. Augustine Akobundu said that the Ministry is indeed proud to be selected to be one of the few sites for this study this he said is for the records, since this is one of the major studies to be conducted in Nigeria which will stamp the name of the country in the global research map for good. The Minister also appreciated the Government and good people of the United States of America for their unflinching support in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Ebola, Malaria, TB and other disease conditions that constitute public health burden in our society.
Earlier, the US Ambassdor, expressed joy that the results of their collaborative efforts with Nigeria in all these various health situations has showed that huge successes are being recorded since the end targets of better health conditions of these varied individuals who are being reached with these provisions gladdens their hearts and they are very ready to do more with Nigeria as the need arises.

Earlier, the Director General of the Ministry of Defence Health Programme, Maj. Gen. AE Life Ajemba said that the control of the disease through an effective vaccine would have immerse socio-economic benefits culminating in low risk burden in the populace thereby ensuring that people will live in a safe environment devoid of fear of contracting the disease.
