Former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki today emerges President of the Eighth Senate. He was unopposed.
His emergence followed his nomination by former Zamfara State Governor, Sani Yerima and seconded by former House of Representatives member now a Senator, Dino Melaiye from Kogi State.
Former Deputy Speaker, Ike Ekweremadu defeated Senator Ali Ndume to emerge as deputy President of the eighth Senate. He is a member of the People Democratic Party.
Most All Progressives Congress Senators were not in attendance during the election.
