New Accountant-General Takes Over

”Officers with corrupt tendencies will purge themselves out, maintain zero tolerance for corruption” says the New Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed ldris (FCNA).
He stressed that the officers with corrupt tendencies must be prepared to purge themselves out because the Treasury under his watch will maintain zero tolerance for corruption in this present administration.
The brand new AGF, made the statement during his inaugural speech on the occasion of the Formal Taking over as the Accountant-General of the Federation which held at the Treasury House, Abuja on the 29th of June, 2015.
He revealed that his administration will be committed to transparency, accountability and probity in the management of the Public Purse, adding that Mr. President rode on the back of change to improve the economy and security, combat corruption as well as address infrastructural deficit, he therefore urged the Civil servants and Public Finance Managers to support Government to achieve its set goals and to maintain high ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.
According to the New Accountant-General of the Federation “we must be cost savers and efficient Resource Managers” and the Present Administration says yes to transparency and Accountability”.
Alhaji Ahmed Idris reiterated that his office shall operate an open door policy adding, that any new ideas that will help the treasury discharge its mandate better to the Government and the Nation at large will be welcomed.
The New AGF appreciated the leadership of the former Accountant-General of the Federation Mr.  Jonah Otunla FCA OFR for his great achievements in reposition ing the Treasury for effective and efficient Treasury service delivery, adding that his reforms brought the IPPIS, GIFMIS, TSA, e-PAYMENT, Audit modernization, Federal Treasury Academy and IPSAS to where they are today.


Alhaji Ahmed Idris also assured that he will continue to maintain these reforms in improving financial management during his tenure whilst exploring other innovations in Public Finance Management.
The AGF equally assured the staff, that as the team leader, his tenure would be fair and just to all, and that the management will give priority to welfare and maintaining conducive working environment and  also strive to train and re-train staff at all levels for better performance of their duties. Alhaji Idris promised that the Treasury cannot achieve its mandate without the active support of our institutions and partners, he also said that he intends to work closely with the National Assembly, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget Office of the Federation, NNPC, FIRS etc.
Earlier, the Former Acting AGF, Mr. M.K Dikwa noted that the most important achievement within the last 13 days is the product of the new AGF, urging all stakeholders to must give him maximum co-operation to achieve his goals as he takes over.
In his contribution, the Executive Governor of Gombe State Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who was a former AGF congratulated the new AGF, assuring him that the Treasury family is indeed a good family, and that there are competent men and women staff members who are royal and supportive.
The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastasia Daniel Nwobia, welcomed the new AGF and emphasized that her ministry will abide by the code of ethics, adding that all hands would be on deck to help the new AGF  to execute all the reforms whilst promising to work together with staff.
