The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, NPM has promised to improve on the existing partnership between the Nigeria Police and IPAS – A non-governmental organization with focus on promoting women reproductive rights and ensuring justice for victims of gender crimes.
This reassurance came today when the IGP played host to visiting IPAS delegation led by Dr. Nihinlola Mabogunje (IPAS country director) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. The visiting IPAS delegation recounted their collaborations with the Nigeria Police Force to include training of over four hundred and fifty (450) Police personnel on handling gender based issues.
In his remarks, the Nigeria Police boss maintained that the Police is gender sensitive as evident in the establishment of a technical platform at the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Abuja to handle Forensic investigation of gender cases. He further promised to connect IPAS with the technical platform as well as other gender desks across the nation.
