Gurara Communities to benefit from commercial farming activities at the site- FG

DSC_0910+-+CopyFederal Government of Nigeria has said that the communities surrounding Gurara Irrigation project in Kaduna State will benefit largely from the commercial farming activities at the site.
 
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Musa Istifanus made this known  over the weekend, while inspecting some of the commercial  farms at the Gurara Irrigation site. He said that the communities have been cooperating with the Federal Government of Nigeria since the beginning of the project, thus they should also benefit from the activities of the commercial farmers.
 
Mr. Istifanus said that the purpose of the inspection was to get firsthand information and to see the extent to which the commercial farmers are taking off at the site.
 
He said that government would not relent on its efforts to ensure that the commercial farmers and the host communities benefit maximally from the project.
 
In his remarks, the Dallatun Jere, Alh. Umar Abubakar who spoke through the former Commissioner of Poverty Alleviation, Kaduna State, Alh. Abdurahman Ibrahim Jere said that the communities would exhibit maximum cooperation with the Government and the commercial farmers to achieve food security goal of government.
