As part of its commitment to enhancing civil-military relations, ‎the Nigerian AirForce NAF has extended medical assistance to some Internally Displaced Persons who are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment at the 47 Nigerian Air Force Hospital (47 NAFH), Yola.

The assistance is also part of its ambitious social responsibility initiatives in NAF’s areas of operations.

The passionate care shown to the ill IDPs, according to the Commander 47 NAF Hospital, Yola, Group Captain T Kamla was in line with the Chief of Air Staff’s unbending commitment to the good health of the IDPs.

“The hospital draws its inspiration and encouragement in dealing with the IDPs from the CAS’ unfettered commitment towards their well-being”, he explained. He insisted that these people need assistance and, according to him.

Group Captain Kamla disclosed that in every quarter, at least 30 IDPs are treated in the hospital. Those treated in the hospital, he explained are the ones with serious health conditions. “The hospital has five consultants who pair up with our own medical team to give the best medical diagnosis and treatment to the sick IDPs”, he further enthused.

With the air offensive commitment of the NAF in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists and the great determination to ensure the IDPs who are sick receive the best possible and affordable medical care, the IDPs could very well be on their way home in the shortest possible time.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar in his recent address during the Sallah celebration with officers and men at the frontline, in Yola assured the IDPs of the NAF’s commitment to winning the war against Boko Haram terrorists as to ensure the quick return of IDPs to their respective communities.

“We want to ensure the quick return of all the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their respective villages to live their normal lives”, he had pledged.

The Air Force Chief has left no one in doubt on the Nigerian Air Force unwavering commitment towards the annihilation of Boko Haram terrorists in the North East, as demonstrated by the enduring air offensive operations in support of the ground troops.

While he said, the total defeat of the insurgents is the only way that can guarantee the return of the IDPs to their respective homes, he said such return would lose its value if the IDPs are not in good health. It is only in good health that they “can live their normal lives”, adding that this was why he earlier this year renovated and equipped the IDP Camp medical facilities.

Beneficiaries of the medical scheme have however expressed their profound appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for the satisfactory medical attention they are receiving in the hospital. To them, the medical efforts of the hospital to ensure their good health makes them hopeful that they would lead a normal life again.

One of the patients at the 47 NAFH Yola, Mr Goni Mohammed Mustapha, expressed great appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for the uncommon care availed him since his admission in the hospital. He said: “Our lives have been broken. But every day, we hear the sounds of NAF aircraft fighting for us. This gives us hope that the insurgents will be defeated and we shall return home one day. The Air Force is also treating me and taking good care of me in the hospital, here. I believe that I will live my normal life again.”
