In line with the Federal Government’s resolve to diversify the economy, the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed has disclosed that the present Administration will deepen its commitment to revive the Durbar Festival so that the Cultural sector of the economy will contribute its quota to the revenue the federal government generates.
The Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed disclosed this, Wednesday, when he received in audience the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar who paid him a courtesy call in his office in Abuja.
Alhaji Mohammed stated that Durbar Festival is going to be revived, in Nigeria so as to reinforce the bond between Nigerians and significantly boost the revenue to the nation.
In his words, “It’s about time we also revive durbar. It brings in very serious revenue, Durbar is a cultural festival, and it’s a kind of culture you cannot find replicated anywhere in the world, it’s unique, not because of its colour but has the potential to create job”.
The Minister revealed that his Ministry will soon commence on tourism visits nationwide starting from Bauchi State in order to showcase exactly what the Governor of Bauchi State has been doing in the last few months.
Earlier, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State His Excellency, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, said he was in Abuja to confer with the Minister on areas of mutual interest as far as Culture and Tourism is concerned.
He added that he has come to take some lessons from Alhaji Mohammed as Information and Communication are essential and integral part of success of any democratic government.
