The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris has charged the New Management of the News Agency of Nigeria to ensure Global Best Practices in the day to day running of the organization.

He said this when he received in his Office, the new Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria Mr. Bayo Onanuga and his entourage, in his office at the Treasury House on Wednesday. Mr. Idris welcomed the new Management and hopes the visit would cement a lasting relationship.

He was however quick to admonish them to reflect on and manage the meager resources appropriated to them by the Federal Government “because times are hard and Revenues and resources are dwindling.”

The Accountant-General advised on bringing good conduct and moral values to the fore. Adding that, reporters should not be sent out to work without being provided for, for their safety as well as to enhance their commitment to the job.

Mr. Idris noted that the function of the Office of the Accountant-General transcends all the states of the Federation and the arms of Government. He further buttressed his point by mentioning some of the reforms of the Federal Government that are being coordinated from the Treasury House also known as the Office of the Accountant- General of the Federation which includes: IPPIS, TSA, IPSAS, GIFMIS and e-Payment.

Earlier in his speech, the new Managing Director of NAN Mr. Bayo Onanuga appreciated the AGF for granting them audience and commends him on the activities and achievements of the OAGF that he has observed since the few months since the AGF came on board such as the enforcement of the inclusion of several Federal organizations in the IPPISscheme and the popular TSA that has become all inclusive.

Mr. Onanuga who had in his entourage the Editor-in-chief, Mr. Yusuf A. Zango and the Ag. D (Accts.) Mr. Oladele Ojo discussed some challenges facing the organization with the AGF who promised to look into them and support them in any way he could.

The New Management of NAN presented the AGF with some copies of their publications and Mr. Idris, the AGF reciprocated by presenting them some copies of the Executive Summary of the Achievements of the OAGF published by the Press Unit of the OAGF.
