Bauchi Chief Judge Releases 194 Prison Inmates
The Administration of Criminal Justice Committee headed by the Bauchi State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi T. Umar has today released 194 inmates during its first and second quarter visit to Prisons in Bauchi State.
The Committee yesterday visited four main prisons in the State namely; Misau, Azare, Jama’are and Ningi Prisons and completed the exercise today at Bauchi Central Prison.

While addressing the released inmates shortly after the exercise, the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi T. Umar, congratulated them for their release and urged them to turn a new leaf, amend their way of life and be of good behavior. She commended the executive Governor of Bauchi State for the full support given to the committee to carry out its assignments. The Chief Judge also thanked members of her committee for their support and commitment.
In his remarks, the Controller of Prisons Bauchi State Command, CP Hassan A Shema, expressed his appreciation for the committee’s resolve to decongest Prisons in the state. He noted that the exercise has no doubt brought succour to the inmates and hoped that the committee will visit again in no distant time.
One Ibrahim Sulaiman, on behalf of the released inmates, thanked the Chief Judge and her committee for granting them freedom. He promised that they will live a crime-free life as they leave the Prison. He also commended the prison officials for treating them well while serving their various sentences.
