The Acting General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army,  Brig Gen Benjamin Ahanotu visited troops of 241 Recce Battalion Nguru as part of routine operational visit to troops under Headquarters 3 Division Tactical (Sector 2) deployed in Operation LAFIYA  DOLE to mark Nigeria’s   57th  lndependence Celebration  Anniversary.

The Ag GOC, while addressing the troops, said he  was highly impressed with standard of discipline and neatness maintained in the barracks.

He stated  that such could  only be achieved by troops that had  value for military regimentation. He also praised the quality of facilities in the barracks during an inspection.

The  Ag GOC further hinted that the barracks would  be used to host and train 200 young officers of the Nigerian Army as part of the compulsory leadership and  regimentation  orientation cadre organized for newly commissioned officers.  Consequently  he advised them to maintain and improve upon their established standard.

He also assured them that the authority was very keen to improve on administrative and  welfare of troops.

Earlier on arrival,  the GOC was received and briefed by the Commanding Officer Col UN Aliyu and was also conducted round   of the facilities in the barracks.

Such facilities  include  Lt Gen TY Buratai Hall of Fame, 200  Capacity Training Shed, Admin Coy Office, Special Training Area, an Ultra Modern Medical Reception Station, Officers and Soldiers quarters.

The Ag GOC later  paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Nguru,  His Royal Highness Mai Mustapha Ibn Kyari.

Meanwhile, in another development,  following a tip off from the locals on presence of suspected Boko Haram terrorists and cattle rustlers at Kirbiri village, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, troops of 120 Battalion in conjunction with vigilantes mobilized to the general area.

On arrival, the gallant troops engaged the terrorists with a heavy fire neutralizing one of them while several other terrorists abandoned their weapons and flee in disarray with gunshot wounds.

The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle with registration number 34364, and 2 empty rifle magazines.
