North-East Media Honours Gen Buratai, Irabor, Shehu of Borno, Others
YERWA COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED, publisher of YERWA EXPRESS NEWS, (YENews) will hold a public lecture on Digital Media as part of activities to mark its One Year anniversary.

YENews is so far the only registered indigenous print and online media organization headquartered in the North East (Nigeria), besides state-owned tv and radio stations.

YENews was established October 2016 to provide the region with an effective media organization that will adequately cover and report everyday happenings of the people ranging from culture, history, politics, entertainment, lifestyle and much more.

Part of its mandate also is to promote good governance, keep local communities informed about what matters to their lives and most importantly, create employment opportunities.

In the last one year, as part of our resolve, our major focus was Borno where our head office is located. The reason is not unconnected with the fact that we were starters and making ‘experiments’ as at then. Notwithstanding, we have made efforts at expanding our outreach to other states in the region particularly Yobe, Gombe, Taraba and Bauchi.

In the event, YENews will also unveil its plans for the next year and beyond.

The presentation which will talk about Digital Media in the North East will be made by Mohammed Ali.

Ali is YENews’ head of IT and one of the most talented techies in the region. He has over three decades of experience in the field providing IT solutions nationwide and currently making behind-the-scene efforts to deepen digitalization in the North East.

The lecture will hold in Abuja November 11, 2017 where about 20 persons will also be conferred with awards of excellence.

The conferees include Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. TY Buratai, Shehu of Borno, His Eminence, Dr. Shehu Abubakar Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, Borno first lady, Haj. Nana Shettima, among others. Others include Borno State Commissioner of Police, CP Damian Chukwu, Vice Chancellor University of Maiduguri, Prof. Ibrahim A. Njodi and Barr. Zannah Mustapha, Director of an orphanage school in Maiduguri, Future Prowess.

Also in the list are Prof. Isa Husseini Marte, Maj. General Lucky Irabor, Engr. Dr. Abakar Isa, Fati Abubakar, Dr. Abba Saleh, among others.

The 23-persons list was developed by YENews correspondents. They are considered key to restoration of peace in particularly Borno, among other things. Other persons are considered for the award for exceptional bravery, most impactful initiatives, community and humanitarian support at a time of war.

LECTURE TOPIC: Digital Media, North East and YENews Approach by Mohammed Ali
VENUE: Rockview Royal Zuma Hall, Abuja
