On the occasion of the signing into law of the North East Development Commission Bill by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari wishes to congratulate the governments and the entire people of the North East of Nigeria on this major milestone.
Mrs. Buhari has been a key player in this struggle as she attended the presentation of the Bill before the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara at the head of a large delegation that included Wives of the governors of the region, Vice Chancellors of Universities and many other stakeholders. She also presented a position paper at the event.
She wants to specially appreciate the role played by the leadership and members of the National Assembly, especially members of the House Committee on IDPs, Refugees and North East Initiatives, under the chairmanship of Hon. Sani Zorro.
She is using this opportunity to urge appropriate authorities to ensure that the implementation of the Act will bring the much needed succour to the people of the North East, who have been ravaged by insurgency for so long.
