NUJ Honours Gen. Abubakar with Award of Excellence on Security Management
The Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ) and Correspondents Chapel Enugu State Chapter, has hosted an elaborate end of the year lectures/party and award giving ceremony at the NUJ Centre in Enugu on Tuesday the 19th December 2017.
The ceremony attracted many dignitaries from all walks of life. At the event, a few selected important personalities were recognized and honoured with Distinguished Service Award by the combined leadership of the Associations.
Among those honoured are the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adamu Baba Abubakar, the Commissioner of Police Enugu State Mr Mohammed Danmallam and distinguished Senator Chuka Utazi.
The GOC was represented at the occasion by the Division’s Deputy Director Public Relations Colonel Sagir Musa who received the award on his behalf.

In his speech at the event, the President of the NUJ Enugu State, Comrade Rex Chinweuba Arum elogised the Chief of Army Staff(COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai and the GOC for the remarkable achievements in the areas of peace and security as well as cementing excellent civil -military relations between soldiers and the good people of Enugu State and the South East in general. Also, the historic construction and subsequent commissioning of the giant water project for the Abakpa cantonment by the COAS that is positively impacting on the soldiers, their families and surroundings communities of Abakpa Nike, New Haven and Otiba in Enugu city is worthy for recognition.
“It is for these reasons that we strongly and proudly feel we should honour specifically the GOC who is here close to us by giving him the Distinguished Service Award” Mr Rex Chinweuba Arum stated.
