Gov Sani-Bello Earmarks 23 Grazing Reserves for Herders in Niger State
Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has commended the initiatives and efforts of the Federal government and all the security agencies at curtailing various security challenges in the country.
The Governor gave the commendation when declaring open a two day retreat for members of the State executive council and some top government officials in Abuja.
He commended the high sense of professional competency demonstrated by both the federal government and security outfits in managing various security challenges.
He cited various military operations, such as “Operation Keremi Goro”, “Operation Cat Race” and efforts by other security agencies across the country as testaments of federal government’s commitment and resolve to curtail and contain all security challenges and insurgency.
According to the governor, “it is important at this critical period to appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government and all the security agencies, especially the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris Koptun, who
has demonstrated professional competency in managing the upsurge of security challenges  in some parts of the country.
“It is indeed heartwarming that the Nigerian Army, the Airforce, the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Security and other paramilitary agencies have in recent times lived up to their mandate by rising up to the task of curtailing various security challenges and insurgency.
“Worthy of note also is the stirling results inter-agency sygnery and collaborative efforts have been producing, especially in Niger State. These efforts have resulted in arrest of kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other criminal elements and has guaranteed the relative peace we are enjoying in Niger State”.
Governor Sani-Bello  then stressed the need for all to continue to work more closely in synergy with security agencies in finding lasting solution to the various security challenges.
To this end, he said his administration identified with the Federal government efforts  at curbing the herders and farmers clashes and has earmarked and gazetted 44,000 hectares of land for 23 grazing reserves in the state.
The Governor said two of the reserves, a 14,000 hectares in Iri, Rijau Local Government area and 30,000 hectares at Kompas in Bobi in Mariga.
