Security Information: DHQ Revives Inter-Agency Synergy

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has resolved to revive and improve on the existing inter-agency collaboration towards efficiency in security operations and better information management among security agencies in the country.

The Director Defence Information(DDI) and the Nigerian military spokesperson, Brigadier General John A. Agim made the disclosure when he paid a courtesy visit to PRNigeria management in Abuja.

He said that he had discussed with the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), the secretariat of platforms for security spokespersons in the country towards reviving and improving existing structures.

“Since my appointment, I have reached out to the Executive Secretary of the Centre for Crisis Communication, retired Air Commodore Yusuf Anas towards reviving activities of Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA).

“I have also reached out to the media on the need to improve the relationship with military and security agencies, so that information is not distorted for the advantage of our enemies and criminal elements.

“At this period, I believe interagency collaboration, sustained mutual media relationship and timely information management are desirable for better informed and well-educated citizenry.”

While acknowledging the roles of PRNigeria in news release distributions for critical institutions in Nigeria, he commended the PR firm for the series of international awards it garnered in recent time.

“I must commend PRNigeria for its support to the security services and congratulate the management for winning outstanding awards from African Public Relations Association APRA and International Public Relations Association (IPRA) for the laudable efforts.”

While taking the guest round the facilities of the PR agency, the founder of PRNigeria Mr. Yushau Shuaib, said that his organisation provides its services free of charge to security agencies without any financial commitment.

“For the record, the PRNigeria in the last 3 years of the current administration has been providing the media services free of charge to more than 15 agencies as part of our social responsibility to our nation. We believe in protecting the integrity of the critical institutions in the country

“We to sustain our operations, to some extent through other products under the umbrella of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, especially the Economic Confidential, Youths Digest, News Digest, capacity programmes and consultancy services.”

Shuaib urged the spokesperson to carry the stakeholders along. “We strongly believe that as a professional communicator, you will improve the synergy of the inter-agency collaboration towards avoiding frictions and misunderstanding among the spokespersons which we have witnessed in recent times. Your collaboration with CCC should, therefore, help nip in the bud the occasional inter-agency rivalries being witnessed among the security forces”, he said
