No fewer than 2,000 armed police men have been deployed to schools as part of the measures to enhanced protection in public schools in the North East.

A competent senior police officer, who confirmed this to PRNigeria, said the personnels will be deployed in more than 300 schools in Yobe, Adamawa and Borno to enhanced enhance security to students and teachers in schools.

The officer said the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, would embark on appraisal visits in the Northeast where he will visit the schools and access performance of police men.

Despite deploying his Assistant Inspector General of Police(AIG), to relocate to Maiduguri to compliment the military effort to rescue the Dapchi abducted school girls from Boko Haram, after returning from medical vocation, the IGP deems it necessary to come to the Northeast and see things for himself.

“I want to reassure Nigerians that the IGP is committed toward his primary mandate of protecting lives and properties from all part of the country,” the police said.

It will be recalled that Mr Abdullahi Gana, the Commander General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Muhammad Babandede, thenImmigration Comptroller General and Mr Jaafaru Ahmed of the Nigerian Prison Service have visited the Northeast sequel to the directives given by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

Many Nigerians have criticised the IGP for not relocating to the crises prone area as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari without knowing that the IGP was on a medical vocation to attend to his health.
