Niger State Government has   revitalized the health  sector of the state with  the sum of N 787 million. This effort has fast tracked  accreditation of the Colleges of Nursing Sciences in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jibrin Mustapha disclosed this  while briefing the press at the Government House in Minna, the state capital

The Commissioner who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, Dr. Makusidi Muhammad said the 42 year old School of Nursing, Bida and School of Midwifery, Minna have been granted full accreditation for the first time since they were established  while the newly established College of Nursing Sciences, Kontagora has also been accredited.

He said the accreditation has has brought about increment in the number of students to be admitted into the schools which will reduce the hardship faced by young Nigerlites seeking for admission in such schools outside the state. It will also improve the availability of manpower in health care facilities across the state .

Dr. Makusidi also stated that the accreditation of the schools has now been recognized and is presently hosted in the international website of the  Nurses and Midwifery, adding that the school of Nursing Bida has been chosen to be among the 6 schools in Nigeria to pilot the HND program for Nurses while that of Minna is among those schools to handle special training for special students.

He further said that, Government’s intervention  included recruitment of professional nurse tutors, infrastructural and instructional materials procured and that admission forms are already on sale for 2018/2019 academic year  in the Colleges including  that of Kontagora.
