NHRC Seeks Partnership of Prisons on Human Right Protection
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought partnership with Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) on human right protection.
The newly appointed Cordinator of NHRC, Mr Nuhu Mohammed made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the controller of prisons Niger state command, Baba Gana in his office.
Mr Nuhu said he was at the prisons state headquarters to formally introduce himself to the prison boss and seek areas of collaboration on human right protections.
He said the Nigerian prisons service is a critical partner to the commission in ensuring enhancement of the enjoyment of human rights by citizens in whatever position they found themselves.
In his response, the controller of prisons Niger state Baba Gana welcomed the NHRC boss to the office and assured him of maximum in the collaborative partnership on human right.
Baba Gana said: “We will provide continuous support and cooperation towards the realization of their common objective.
“The NPS under the present leadership of CGP Ja’afaru Ahmed is ever willing to partner with the commission and similar bodies in promoting human right and public and upholding the rights of persons legally interned.”
