Dasuki: Court Serves Warrant of Release on DSS, AGF
The Federal High Court in Abuja has formally served a warrant of release of Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) on the Director General of Department of State Security Services (DSS) and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

A Federal High Court had on July 2, 2018, granted Dasuki conditional bails which he had perfected full today.

PRNigeria gathered that around 1 pm today a court bailiff accompanied by the two sureties who stood for Dasuki officially served the Director General of DSS and Minister of Justice with the warrant of release from the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Although the sureties had anticipated that the detained ex-NSA would be handed over to them, sources, however, said that the DSS boss may need to contact the Presidency before finally handing over Dasuki to the sureties in compliance with the judgement of the Federal High Court.

The warrant of release dated July 16, 2018 with a title ‘Verification of Bail Conditions’ and signed by Mba Nkem A. Omotosho, Deputy Chief Registrar was served on the DSS Headquarters and the Office of Minister of Justice in Abuja.

The warrant of release read in part: “Pursuant to the judgement Order made on Monday the 2nd day of July 2018 granted by his lordship, Hon Justice Ijeoma L. Ojukwu, directing various conditions to be fulfilled prior to the Release on Bail of the Applicant (Col. Sambo Dasuki Rtd).

“I have scrupulously verified the entire conditions of bail as ordered by his lordship and the three ambits are fulfilled.

“Hence, the respondents, the Director-General, State Security Services, and Attorney General of the Federation are hereby notified as directed by his lordship for the subsequent compliance of same.

“Attached herewith is the enrolled Order of the Court and all the necessary bail documents for your perusal and aggrandizement,” it concluded.

Before the latest judgment by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on his Fundamental Human Rights, Dasuki had previously perfected bails granted him by four different judges of high courts including Justices Ademola Adeniyi and Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Abuja Federal High Court and Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf and Justice Peter Affen of the FCT High Courts. The ECOWAS Court of Justice also ordered his immediate release from detention.

At the time of this report, friends, associates and well-wishers of the former National Security Adviser have stormed his residence as early as 8 am eagerly awaiting his final release from detention by the federal government.

Lawyer Appeals to Govt to Obey Court Orders

Family members, friends, associates and well-wishers of Former National Security Adviser Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) have stormed his Abuja residence in anticipation of his final release from the detention camp of the Department of the State Security Service (DSS) where he has been held by the Federal Government since December 29, 2015.

This is coming as the Federal High Court in Abuja formally served an order of his release on bail on the Director General of Department of State Security Services (DSS) and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

The Court had on July 2, 2018, granted Dasuki conditional bails which he had perfected fully through his two sureties who are standing for his freedom as ordered by Justice Ijeoma Ojuku.

It was gathered yesterday that around 1pm, a court bailiff accompanied by the two sureties who stood for Dasuki officially served the Director General of DSS and Minister of Justice with the warrant of release from the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Although the sureties had anticipated that the detained ex-NSA would be handed over to them, sources, however, said that the DSS boss may need to contact the Presidency before finally handing over Dasuki to the sureties in compliance with the judgment of the Federal High Court.

The warrant of release dated July 16, 2018 with a titled ‘Verification of Bail Conditions’ and signed by Mr. Mba Nkem A. Omotosho, Deputy Chief Registrar, Federal High Court Abuja was served on the DSS Headquarters and the Office of Minister of Justice in Abuja.

At the time of this story, the residence of the former NSA was in fthe estive mood as his well wishers, friends and associates and family members are bubbling with high hopes that the detained Ex NSA will be allowed on bail this time around by the Federal Government in compliance with the order of the court.

Justice Ojuku had in his judgment on July 2, held that the Federal Government has grossly abused and breached the fundamental human rights of Dasuki to freedom of liberty on account of the detention since 2015.

The Judge declared the detention as unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional and ordered that Dasuki be allowed on bail with conditions which have since been perfected by his two sureties.

Dasuki’s counsel Mr. Ahmed Raji SAN confirmed that the bail conditions of his client have been fulfilled and the whole Nigeria is awaiting a positive response of the Federal Government and the DSS to the Court order.

“I am pleading and begging the Federal Government and DSS in the name of God Almighty to please comply with Court order on my client Col. Sambo Dasuki. We have served them with the court order and in the interest of justice and rule of law, I am begging this government, being a democratic government, to please respect the rule of law on Dasuki”, Raji pleaded.
