Government Sets Up Committee on Kastina, Ogun Floods
The Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu today in Abuja inaugurated the Presidential Committee to appraise the flood disaster that happened recently in Ogun and Katsina States and work assiduously towards proffering lasting solutions
In his opening address, Engr. Adamu said that President Muhamadu Buhari was deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives and properties to the flood disaster and directed Federal Ministry of Water Resources and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess the level of damage, impact on human lives that the flood wrecked and develop concrete actions to ensure that such situation is averted in the future.

The Minister charged the committee to make an in-depth assessment of the disaster, take records of the victims and ascertain the relief interventions that would be required so as to provide needed succour to those affected by the flooding.
Adamu urged the committee to work diligently and dedicatedly towards submitting an interim report on Tuesday, 14th August, 2018.
The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Engr. Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja assured that the committee would work towards finding solutions to the recurring flood disasters across the country and promised that the committee’s report will be submitted within the specified time frame.
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Dr. Musa Ibrahim informed that the newly inaugurated committee was put in place following Presidential directive.
