2019 Election: Sani-Sidi Tours Birnin Gwari amid insecurity

Inspite of high security risks on the Birnin Gwari route, a Gubernatorial hopeful and former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mohammed Sani Sidi, OFR, wednesday visited Birnin Gwari Local Government area to consult with Party leaders, key stakeholders and delegates.

While addressing a cheering party and campaign supporters during the consultation meeting in Birnin Gwari, Sani Sidi said he was in the Local Government Area to commiserate with the people for many lives lost in recent times.

“We are here to share in your pains and agonies, we are here to commiserate with you over what you have been going through. I am genuinely concerned about your plight” Sidi said in a soft laden voice.

According to Sidi, “I have been adviced several times against coming to Birnin Gwari due to security concerns. I was advised to invite you (party executives and delegates) to Kaduna for the meeting, but I declined, I choose to take whatever risk to identify with you during these trying times.”

“As a person, I feel highly burdened to comfortably sit in Kaduna and invite you. No responsible person should seek the mandate of a people he cannot visit. And that is why we are here today to assure you that the insecurity in this area will form part of our key priorities if God gives us the opportunity to lead you” said Sidi.

In their seperates responses, political and community leaders pledged their support to Sani Sidi ahead of party primaries.

According to the Chairman of Stakeholders of the party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Jibril, Wazirin Birnin Gwari “Sani Sidi’s presence was very symbolic as he was the only aspirant that had visited Birnin Gwari.”

“His visit demonstrates high sense of concern and responsibility. No aspirant has visited us. A few of them invited us to Kaduna because they are scared. And how can you lead a people you do not know their problems? So we have therefore resolved to overwhelmingly vote for Sani Sidi during the forthcoming party primaries” said Waziri.

The leading Gubernatorial aspirant had visited the entire 23 local government areas of Kaduna state to solicit support from delegates ahead of party primaries slated for the 26th of September.
