PROWA Pays fines for Freedom of Benue Prisoners

PROWA Pays fines for Freedom of Benue Prisoners

The national President of Prison Officers’ Wives’ Association, Mrs Hajiya Gwamma Ja’afaru Ahmed, the wife the Controller General of Prisons, represented by Mrs Adebimpe Ojo paid fines of 3 and 1 inmates of Gboko and Makurdi Prisons respectively on 13 th, September, 2018.

This was during her tour of Prison’s Schools in Nigeria to ascertain their needs in other for them to come to their aid.

Other officials of PROWA in the visit were Mrs Mary Gopep,
National Treasurer, Mrs Rhoda Enobore, National PRO and others.

In their separate responses to the good gestures ( paying of fines)of the PROWA president, Mr Teryavga Akerebe, one of the beneficiaries from Gboko Prison said, “I didn’t know that I will not finish my jail term but surprisingly I am released. This showed me the power of God”. While Mr Kelvin Onoja of makurdi Prison was surprised for the action of PROWA president. According to him, “I used not to go to church before coming to Prison but I came to Prison and repented”. Both were grateful to CGP’s wife.

Mrs Ja’afaru advised the beneficiaries not to go back into crime again.

In their separate vote of thanks, the officers in charge of Makurdi, Otukpo and Gboko Prisons were grateful to the visiting PROWA president for coming to check how their schools were fairing and the possible areas of assistance and used that opportunity to pay fines for their reformed inmates with the options of fines.

The controller of Prisons Benue State command, Mr Peter Pevigo represented by DCP Ngobo Ekpo thanked her for visiting Prisons Schools and and used that opportunity to pay fines for inmates.
