It is heart warming to note that this registration is the maiden one after the recent NECO approval of Old Abeokuta Prison Ibara as the centre for the state Command. The approval is made possible through unrelenting efforts of the welfare officer of the Old Abeokuta Prison Ibara, ASP Abdulhakeem Awesu who is also the education coordinator of the prison.
Recall that 21 inmates of the prison were on 29th June, 2018 enrolled to study various tuition free courses in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Sixty four( 64 ) inmates were on June 2nd, 2018 awarded vocational certificates while sixty nine (69 )of them successfully completed NCE program last year.
These success stories were made possible with the support of the religious bodies and well meaning individuals. Appeal has gone out to others to emulate these laudable gesture in assisting to reshape the minds of the prison inmates.
The examination shall commence on the 15th November, 2018
