PROWA Frees 24 Inmates in Bauchi

In her continued efforts towards decongesting the nation’s Prisons, the National President of Prison Officers Wives Association (PROWA) who is also the wife of the Controller General of Prisons, Hajiya Gwamma Ja’afaru, has paid fines and secured the release of 24 inmates from six various Prisons in Bauchi State Command.

Hajiya Gwamma Ja’afaru who was represented by the wife of the Controller of Prisons, Bauchi State Command, Hajiya Fatima Suleiman T. Suleiman, visited six prisons in the State which include; Bauchi Prison where (5 ) inmates were released, Azare Prison (5), Jama’are (2), Ningi (4), Darazo Satellite Prison (4) and Toro Satellite (4) inmates were released making a total of 24 inmates.

Hajiya Fatima Suleiman admonished the released inmates to be of good behavior and shun crime capable of bringing them back to prison.

The Controller of Prisons Bauchi State Command, Suleiman T. Suleiman was full of appreciation to the PROWA National President. He maintained that this symbolic gesture of touring round all the nation’s prisons and paying fines and compensation for inmates was the first of its kind in the history of PROWA. He implored other well-meaning individuals to emulate the good gesture.
