Nigeria Immigration Closes Borders, Unveils Situation Room
Further to the Presidential Election taking place on the 16th February, 2019, the Honourable Minister of Interior has directed the closure of all Nigeria Land Borders with effect from 12.00 noon of Friday 15th February to 12.00 noon of Sunday 17th February, 2019.
This is to restrict movements across the borders during the election days.
The public is to take note and ensure compliance.

Meanwhile, the Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Muhammad Babandede (MFR) has unveiled the NIS Election Monitoring and Security Situation Room at the Service Headquarters, Abuja as part of efforts to contribute to the peaceful conduct of the 2019 elections and the strengthening of the nation’s nascent democracy.
Speaking at the occasion, the CGI noted that the Situation Room shall function 24 hours and be opened to receive situation reports/complaints of all events concerning the election from all parts of the country.
CGI Babandede also reiterates his advice that non-Nigerians MUST NOT participate in the elections.
Members of the public who have useful information about foreigners’ participations /complaints related to the NIS on the conduct of the election are advised to use any of the following numbers to contact the NIS Election monitoring and situation Room.
