Elections: Police Restrict Vehicular Movement in Abuja, Anambra

Area Council Elections: Police Restrict Vehicular Movement in Abuja
The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that sequel to the Area Council Election in FCT slated for Saturday 9th March, 2019, there will be the restriction of vehicular movement across the Federal Capital Territory as from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

However, Ambulances, Fire Service trucks and others on essential duties will be exempted from this enforcement because of the sensitive nature of their services to the public.

While regretting the inconveniences this restriction might cause FCT resident, the Command wants to assure residents that proactive security measures have been put in place to facilitate the peaceful conduct of the election.

meanwhile, ahead of the forthcoming Area Council election in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command wishes to reassure FCT residents that the Command has deployed proactive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order before, during and after the election slated for Saturday 9th March, 2019.

The Command seizes this medium to sternly warn those recruited as thugs to cause mayhem and those nursing the thought of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming election to either jettison the thought or be prepared to be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Leaders of all political parties are therefore advised in their best interest to rein in on their supporters to eschew any act that could lead to the breakdown of law and order and subvert the peaceful conduct of the election.

The Command wants to reiterate that those arrested while trying to interrupt the election will be prosecuted. Their sponsors, political party leaders and all those fingered to be behind such criminal act will also not be spared from arrest and prosecution by the police.

Police Restrict Vehicular Movement in Anambra
In order to ensure adequate security in the forthcoming State House of Assembly election in Anambra State on Saturday 9/3/2019,the Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Ladodo Psc( +) has ordered the complete restriction of vehicular movements in Anambra State and through the Land and riverine border between 6am of Saturday 9/3/2019 till 5pm after the voting period on the same day.

This total restriction of movements order applies to all, except Security agencies,personnel on essential Services and duly accredited election observers.

The CP notes that the restriction will assist the security agencies in effectively policing the electoral process, thereby preventing hoodlums and criminally-minded elements from hijacking and disrupting the electoral process. He further urges all eligible voters in the State to come out en-masse on the day of the election to exercise their franchise without any fear or apprehension as the Police and other security agencies have already put in place adequate security measures to ensure a safe, secure and conducive environment for a peaceful and credible election.

While regretting the inconveniences the restriction will cause the residents , the CP however warns that the Command will deal decisively with any individual(s) or group(s) that will want to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election. He therefore enjoins the citizens to steer-clear of vote buying, vote selling, circulation of hate speeches, snatching of ballot boxes and other act(s) capable of truncating the people’s will noting that the Command will not hesitate to bring to bear the full weight of the law on anyone who engages in any of the afore mentioned crime during this period.
