Wife of Kebbi Governor Frees 70 Prison Inmates

Her Excellency The Wife of Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, has released a total of Seventy(70) inmates from Prisons in the State, via her self-sponsored Program, “Prisoners Release, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (P-R3) in collaboration with Kebbi State Chapters of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) and Federation of Female Lawyers(FIDA).

Fourty Two(42) first term offenders with various options of fine were set free at the Medium Security Prison Birnin Kebbi. In the B/Kebbi Old Prison a Nursing Mother with her three month old baby, has her fifteen thausand naira N15,000 fine settled in addition to Grinding Machine and N10,000 capital all courtesy of her Excellency. She pledge to extend her medical outreach to prisoners by upgrading the old prison sick bay to a model standard.

Dr.Bagudu, says the gesture is to mark the celebration of her husband’s second term re-election bid and urged the freed inmates to be of good character. She appealed to their community to ensure their safe Reintegration back to the society.

In a similar development the Governor’s Wife pays fine of Twenty Seven(27) Prisoners of MSP B/Kebbi and a donation of N5,000 each to Celebrate “The Holy Month of Ramadaan”.

Earlier the acting Controller of Prisons and officer in charge of MSP B/Kebbi DCP Mamuda Mato, appreciates her Excellency’s Compassionate Gesture of addressing the welfare of Inmates and Decongesting the Prisons.

Dr.ZSB also donates bags of grains, cartons of noodles,soaps, praying mats, wrappers, gallons of vegetable and palm oil to the prisoners. Highlight of the event is the presentation of ‘made-in-prison’ bag to her excellency.
