Oyo-Ita, Peer Review Team Commend OAGF towards Economic Recovery Plan

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, FCA and her Peer Review Team (body of Permanent Secretaries) has applauded the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for its role towards Economic Recovery and Growth plan of the Federal Government.

The delegation of Peer review mechanism, who were at the Treasury House to reposition the Federal Civil Servants for better performance and improved service delivery was led by Mrs. Oyo-Ita who praised the AGF for what she described as his commitment in making the Treasury House the flagship of the Civil Service and his innovative ideas. She opined that she was really impressed with what the management of the OAGF has been doing in the areas such as IPPIS, TSA, GIFMIS and other Reform activities. She announced that agencies who have been reluctant will either signup or lose out of the entire payroll system.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and her body of Permanent Secretaries were on a mission to review the workings of the organization so as to gauge their performance as well as to determine how and where to assist them to improve on their performance. Mrs. Oyo-Ita revealed that anyone that expect more welfare, is equally expected to be more productive as well as improve the work output, adding that the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation have improved on welfare programme to make retirement easier for the Civil Servants.

Earlier, in his remarks, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Idris Ahmed, FCNA, said that his Office has fully digitalized its functions hinging on Information Technology and Infrastructure, noting that the entire Treasury Staff, particularly those driving Public Finance Reforms Initiatives are ICT literate and Compliant. Adding that the purpose of the Peer review was to share ideas among MDAs with a view to improving service delivery for actualizing Government policies and programmes and to achieve greater progress and development of the nation.

Mr. Idris promised the delegation of his commitment to discharging his duties, responsibilities and obligation in the Public Finance Management of Nigeria for better implementation plan. He also reaffirmed that OAGF has recorded successes for the Federal Government; explaining that the Implementation of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) has saved government about #206.16bn, basically from ghost workers and overhead costs.
