NPS Establishes Study Centres in Prisons Across Nigeria
The Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) has commence the establishment of university study centres across all states of the federation as part of its commitment towards providing a viral platform for the rehabilitation and reformation of inmates in prison .
This was disclosed by the Controller General of Prisons Ja ‘afaru Ahmed during the graduation ceremony and award of degrees by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to five inmates of the Maximum Security Prisons kirikiri, Lagos.

The CGP, represented by Assistant Controller General of Prisons Chuks VU Chiabua fsi, admonish the graduands to make use of the various reformatory opportunities available to them while in prison.
Professor Gregory Okagbare, who represented the Vice Chancellor, NOUN, thanked the prisons service for partnering with the university towards providing tertiary education to the inmates.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of Bachelor of Science degrees and a Post Graduate Diploma to the 5 inmates.
These inmates are Adebayo Ojo ( B.Sc) Criminology and Security studies, Idong Nelson (B.Sc) Peace and Conflict Resolution, Audu Godfrey (B.Sc) Peace and Conflict Resolution, Akolade Arowolo (PGD) Peace and Conflict Resolution, Okeke Chinonso (B.Sc) Entrepreneurship and business management.
