NIS Seeks Traditional Rulers Support on Immigrant e-Registration
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babadende has called on traditional rulers to support the ongoing Migrant e-Registration project in capturing data of non-Nigerians in their domains.
Babandede made the call when he paid courtesy calls on traditional rulers in Delta State.
He said: “the Federal Government has directed all foreigners in the country to register with the Nigerian Immigration Service within six months under the migrant e-registration programme of the agency.
He said that any alien who failed to comply would be declared an illegal migrant.
The e-registration would aid internal monitoring and integration while enhancing national security.
“The migrant registration, like the passport, will be linked with national identity eco-system to generate a unique number that will eventually connect to all identity system in Nigeria.”
During the working visit to Delta state, Babandede met with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, the Asagba of Asaba, Professor Chike Edozien and the Olu of Warri, Ikenwoli 1, Ogiame Ikenwoli who gave royal blessing to the Migrant e-registration project.
CG Babandede also use the visit to commissioned Five (5)blocks of Ten rooms Transit Camp in Asaba.
