Bandits sack three Niger communities

Armed bandits have laid siege on three villages in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state, barely twenty-four hours after an attack on Kukoki village.

The bandits invaded Rafin-wayam, Rafin-kwakwa as well as Gidan Dogo-Gurgu villages, forcing all the villagers to flee to Kagara, the headquarters of Rafi LGA.

An eye witness, Malam Rilwana told PRNigeria that the bandits first encircled them at Rafin Wayam village and carted away bread and beverages before heading to Pangu-Gari community.

He said the bandits rode on dozens of motor cycles with each carrying three people.

Meanwhile, the Lagos-Kaduna Highway was blocked as youths in Kagara town carried placards to protest incessant armed banditry and kidnappings in the adjoining forest in the area.

Some of the youths chanted anti-government slogan, alleging that government has been insensitive to the plight of the displaced persons sacked by bandits in the last three days.
One of the protesting youth, Jamilu, lamented the poor condition of the IDP camp in Kagara, saying the camp lacked adequate food, water and sanitary facilities.

The youths called on the state government to urgently send food and other basics necessities to the displaced persons from Kukoki, Rafin Wayam, Rafin Kwakwa, Gidan Dogo-gurgu, Maranji and Hanawanka.
