A celebrated media entrepreneur, Alhaji Ismail Sani, has been honoured by Kumbo Multi-Links for projecting the Hausa traditional culture through running a Hausa cultural entertainment drama on his popular Platinum, 91.1 FM, in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The drama series titled ‘Birnin Dala’ is a radio entertainment programme which enlightens ardent listeners about the ancient Hausa traditional rulership under the Emirate system.

Among other objectives, the drama is produced with the primary aim of projecting the Hausa-Fulani culture, while also helping to address issues around education backwardness in the North, religious conflicts and other social crisis bedeviling the society.

Sani, who is the founder of Wonderland TV (WTV) and Director of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential received the “Business Excellence Award”, during an award presentation and launching of the ‘Season one video series of Birnin Dala’ on Sunday.

The event, held at Avenue Events Centre, in Kano, attracted eminent guests, media practitioners and members of the general public.

The auspicious event was organized to honour those who supported the radio programme, and also to launch the TV series, which is also expected to be transmitted on WTV, a media station owned by the acclaimed media mogul.

The wife of Kano State’s Governor, the Managing Director (MDs) of Freedom FM, Arewa 24, and Flour Mills of Nigeria, together with Muddasir and Brothers Limited, were the other award-recipients at the launching.

“With a great sense of modesty, I announce to this August gathering that our Platinum FM, in collaboration with spirited organisations, has been airing the ‘Birnin Dala’ series for over two and a half years now.

“From Nasarawa to Abuja, and even some parts of Kaduna, many people devotedly follow and regularly listen to the entertaining drama on our FM. On this occasion, I can only reiterate both Platinum FM and WTV managements’ total commitment to supporting and partnering the producers of Birnin Dala drama series,” he said.

Alh. Sani is the Zone ‘D’ Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Chairman of Wonderland Group, owners and operators of WTV and Platinum FM.
