On the 31/10/2019 at about1:33pm, a truck loaded with 45000 litres of premium motor spirit (PMS)and driven by one Odion Orukpe ‘m’ aged 33years of No 4 Bentra Street, Benin City, Edo State failed break along Onitsha/Enugu Expressway by Oando Filling Station, Onitsha.As a result,the truck rolled back and fell into a big drainage.

2. Police and other security agencies responded promptly to the distress with massive deployment of patrol teams which effectively condoned off the scene in order to avert calamity.

3. Consequently, traffic was diverted to a safer direction and Fire Service department was equally contacted as well as other emergency responders such as State emergency management Agency and Red cross.Trans-loading of the PMS from the accident truck by officials of NUPENG commenced at 3pm and was completed at about 6:05pm without any casualty recorded.

4. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc has visited the scene for on the spot assessment and the truck driver was equally arrested.

5.Situation was brought under control and obstructions cleared to enable free vehicular movements in the Area.

6.Finally,case is under investigation in order to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident,please.
