Police Nab 31 Suspects, Two Rapists in Abuja
The delivery of quality security service to residents and stakeholders of the Federal Capital Territory has remained the crux of our mandate as a Command.
In our bid to rid the FCT of criminality, the Command has leveraged on the Special Joint Counter Kidnapping Operation involving other security agencies and the community to address criminality in totality within the FCT. We are confident that the strategies adopted including partnership with key community stakeholders and the creation of new Divisions will go a long way to nip crime in the bud in the FCT.
I want to assure members of the Public that the Command will not rest on its oars in using tactical proactive and reactive measures to ensure the provision of adequate safety to lives and properties.
I want to use this medium to express my profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu NPM mni and the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello for their unflinching support of the FCT Command.
I want to guarantee FCT residents and Stakeholders that we are dedicated to ensuring maximum security of lives and properties. On this note, the Command and the Joint Counter Kidnapping Operations has notably achieved the following in the last couple of weeks:
1. Suspects arrested
-arrest of thirty-one (31) kidnap suspects
-arrest of two (2) rape suspect
-arrest of two (2) car thieves
-arrest of five (5) one chance fraudsters
-arrest of two (2) impersonators
-total number of suspects: forty-two (42)
2. Exhibit recovered
– recovery of five (5) locally fabricated firearms
-recovery of four (4) catridges
-recovery of ten (10) vehicles – (2 immobile)
-recovery of six (6) cutlasses
-recovery of large quantity of indian hemp
-recovery of three (3) face masks
– recovery of one (1) sim card

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS
The Joint Counter Kidnapping Operation involving the Police, the Military and other Security agencies tagged Operation Sharan Daji has successfully arrested Twenty-Six (26) persons reasonably suspected to be part of different kidnap syndicates operating along Kuje, Rubochi, Kwali and Abaji axis, including One Usman Abdullahi ‘m’ 40 years and 25 others. The exhibits recovered from some of the suspects include: Four (4) locally fabricated fire arms, One (1) Dane gun with 10-round cylinder loader, Four (4) cartridges, Three (3) cutlasses, Three (3) Face masks, Twenty-four (24) wraps of dry leafs suspected to be marijuana, several identity cards and charms. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
Similarly, on 28 October 2019, acting on a tip off Police Operatives attached to Gwagwalada Area Command arrested One Juri Abubakar ‘m’ 30 years a member of a kidnap syndicate at Yangoji. The suspect stated that he supplies food to other members of the syndicate who threatened to kidnap the victim. The prompt intervention of police operatives led to the apprehension of the suspect before the ‘ransom’ was delivered. Concerted efforts are being made to arrest One Ibrahim, Usman , Dahiru, Jayah, Saidu, Awalu all male and members of the syndicate. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
Relatedly, on 2nd November, 2019 Police Operatives attached to Abaji Division arrested One Zaharadeen Abubakar ‘m’ 23 years, Hamza Garba ‘m’ 25 years, Usman Ibrahim ‘m’ 25 years, Jubril Yusuf ‘m’ 24 years and Ismail Omadivi Tijani ‘m’ 20 years a student of University of Abuja for conniving and threatening to Kidnap their victim who drew the attention of the Police. The suspects demanded for the sum of five hundred thousand naira from their victim before they were apprehended by Police Operatives. Exhibits recovered includes: Three (3) cutlasses, One (1) Samsung phone,One (1) simcard and One (1) knife. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF A SUSPECTED SERIAL RAPIST
On 31st October 2019, Operatives on the Joint Counter Kidnapping Operation along Kuje –Abaji axis arrested one Mohammad Maina ‘m’ 20 years a member of a suspected rape syndicate. The suspect confessed that they use to intercept their unsuspecting victims and forcefully have carnal knowledge of them at night. Effort are being intensified to arrest Lawal Gimidi ‘m’, Jibrin Gimindi ‘m’, Ibrahim Gimidi ‘m’ and Godo Gimindi ‘m’ all members of the syndicate who are still at large. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
In another development, on 4th November, 2019 Police Operatives attached to Mabushi Division arrested one Demi Ejegi ‘m’ 65 years who was caught in the act of defiling a 3-year old child. The suspected pedophile stated that they were sharing a meal together when the urge to violate the victim came over him. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED CAR THIEVES/RECOVERY OF VEHICLES
Police Operatives attached to Anti-Car Theft Unit arrested in different operations one Ahmed Raji ‘m’ 30 years and one Abiodun Oyedokun ‘m’ 28 years for being in possession of stolen vehicles. The exhibits recovered include: one (1) Toyota Corolla silver in colour reg. no. DMA 946 AA, Toyota Camry dark ash in colour AE 571 BDK, Honda Accord Gold in colour reg no. BF 06 DKA, one (1) Unregistered Toyota Corolla silver in colour. The immobile exhibit include: one (1) Honda Pilot Jeep black in colour reg no. YAB 247 AQ and one (1) Unregistered Toyota Camry LE dark ash in colour. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
RECOVERY OF VECHICLES/ DRUGS
On 30th October 2019, Police Operatives attached to the Anti-Narcotics Unit in different operations recovered Two (2) vehicles at Apo and Garki respectively. One of them containing a sizeable amount of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs while the other was snatched at gun point. The exhibits recovered include: One (1) Accura MDX Jeep reg no. KRD 563 DZ (Immobile), One (1) unregistered Nissan Sunny containing illicit drugs including Indian hemp. Investigation is on-going
ARREST OF SUSPECTED ONE CHANCE FRAUDSTERS
On 31st October, 2019 Police Operatives attached to Anti-One Chance Unit arrested One Ezenwodo Orioha aka “papa enter motor” ‘m’ 65 years at his hideout in Karimo Village for aiding one chance robbery. The notorious kingpin stated that he is the native doctor who prepares charms for One Chance syndicates before they set out for operations within the FCT. Exhibit recovered include: One (1) Nissan Sunny red in colour reg no. DJ 174 ABJ. He will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
Similarly, on 3rd November, 2019, Police Operatives attached to Nyanya Divisions arrested one Pascal Chijioke ‘m’ 46 years after he defrauded an unsuspecting victim who called the attention of the Police. The suspect stated that he defrauds unsuspecting victims along Nyanya axis. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation
Relatedly, on 5th November, 2019 Police Operatives attached to Anti-One Chance Unit arrested one George Okoro ‘m’ 57 years along Kubwa axis as a wanted suspect of One Chance Robbery in an unregistered Gulf vehicle driven by One Abraham Success Abba ‘m’ 25 years . The first suspect has been on the list of wanted notorious one chance robbers in the FCT. The exhibit recovered include: One (1) unregistered Gulf car. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
Acting on a tip off,on 20th October 2019, Police Operatives attached to the Anti-One Chance Unit arrested one Ngozi Otu ‘f’ 30 years at her hideout in Madala . She confessed to have connived with several One Chance syndicates to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED IMPERSONATORS
On 5th November, 2019,Police Operatives attached to Anti-One Chance Unit arrested One Elizabeth Arokoyo ‘f’ 50 years for aiding one Kura Moses ‘m’ 29 years in impersonating as an Army personnel by printing identification cards for him in her business centre at Zuba. The second suspect stated that he had attempted to join the army on different occasions but failed. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
