Justify Promotions With Honesty, Hardwork, Saidu Tells Officers

The Customs Area Controller of Area II Command, Onne Port Rivers State, Comptroller Aliyu Galadima Saidu has asked newly promoted officers in the command to justify their elevations with honesty and hardwork.

Saidu who gave this charge while decorating newly promoted officers in his Command with their new ranks , said promotions are clarion calls to higher responsibilities.

An elated Comptroller Saidu stated that as expectations are high from promoted officers and all operatives of the command.

“From this moment you should also see yourselves as role models to your subordinates , leading by example and keeping to directives as contained in the Customs and Excise Management Act including other books of instruction.

“The Controller General and Nigeria demands more dedication to duty from us and the motivation of promotion should spur us to do more while also encouraging or stakeholders to be compliant at all times ” Saidu said at the brief decoration ceremony.

For those that are yet to be promoted, the Controller urged them to be unrelenting in steadfastness as other opportunities for promotion will come their way.

“I am optimistic we will have to come together and celebrate again because some other officers will also be promoted “.Continuing, he stressed that with the caliber of officers here “the revenue target and goals of 2019, Will be achieved in few weeks time. Don’t wait till the end of the year “Saidu admonished.

In his good-will message, the commandant Nigeria Navy school Onne, Commodore A. Olodudu also enjoined the newly promoted officers to see their promotion as divine, stating that “Promotion comes from God through the Headquarters”

He added that not everybody has the opportunity to be promoted but those who should see it as a privilege and owe a lot of responsibilities to the country as according to him,”to whom much is given, much is expected”

While urging them to use their promotion to impact positively on their families. He however, advised those not promoted not to down tools but to see it as motivation. “Those not opportuned today, don’t down tools, if not now, it will be later. Let it motivate you to put more than what you have put before, celebrate those we are celebrating today and work as one body to make Nigeria great ”

On her part, the Comptroller immigration, Onne E. I. B. Inok charged the officers to be more humane and show more understanding to the people they left behind. Insisting that all the officers promoted should be more productive and hardworking and always show gratitude to the Customs leadership for what it has done.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Deputy Comptroller Timinadi Bomodi, expressed happiness for the honour done them while promising the Nigerian Customs Service especially the Comptroller General of customs Col. Hammed Ibrahim Ali (retd )of their unalloyed commitment and “to match expectations with hard work”

Recall that Nigerian customs Service had recently announced promotion of officers including one Deputy comptroller General of Customs , three Assistant Comptrollers General of Customs and the promotion of 2,508 officers to various ranks out of which 19 of them were promoted at the Customs Area II Command Onne.
