Physically Challenged Professional Wins Prestigious PR Award in Lagos
A physically challenged scholar and writer Ishola Ayodele has emerged the winner of LaPRIGA Inspiring/Outstanding Professional Influencer Award.

The award which is also known as People’s Choice was presented to Ayodele at the annual Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA) to celebrate PR practitioners and their contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.

Other award winners at the event included John Ehiguese, Yomi Badejo’s CMC connect, Fassy Adetokunbo Yusuf, Prof. Akinfeleye, Corporate bodies and brands like Lifebuoy, infinix.

Speaking on this year awards, the Chairman Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Mr. Segun Mcmedal said “LaPRIGA was instituted to celebrate excellence and professionalism in PR practice and marketing communication. We made conscious effort to raise the bar at every edition, this year being the fourth. We also celebrate our stakeholders who have been consistent in their support for public relations not only in Lagos but across the Nation.”

Speaking on the People’s Choice Award bestowed on Ishola Ayodele, a consummate writer on PR practice, the Vice Chairman of the Lagos NIPR, Mrs. Eniola Mayowa said, “The winner of this People’s Choice award is unique in many ways. One, Ayodele’s commitment to PR practice is well established. Secondly, his consistency in contributing to the body of knowledge and dedication to expanding frontier of the profession is quite commendable. Thirdly, many of the people who voted probably haven’t met with the winner, he can be said to be ‘unknown’ but the value he brought to bear speaks volume. Lastly, when you now realize that the winner is an individual who should have reasons not to be of value but rose against limitations to be atop of his calling makes it so unique and worthy of recognition and celebration.”

The annual PR award event recognizes excellence in public relations practice by individuals, corporate and public organisations to encourage professionalism and more investment in public relations practice.

The innovative People’s Choice Award whose winner was determined by the people was instituted by the Lagos Chapter of NIPR to celebrate commitment, dedication and professionalism in Public Relations. The honoree was voted for by members and the practitioner with the highest votes wins by a simple majority.

The main highlight of the event which attracted the crème de la crème from different sectors was the presentation of the LaPRIGA trophies to practitioners and corporate bodies carefully chosen by a Selection Panel for their contributions to the practice and growth of the profession over the years.

Popularly called “Case study guru,” Ishola Nasirudeen Ayodele, is an indigene of Kwara state but born and bred in Ajegunle, the most popular Ghetto in Nigeria. He holds a professional diploma in public relations & applied communication from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a certificate in Innovative Research from Peter Ogudoro Leadership Management Institute. He is currently rounding off his Master’s program in Communication studies at the Lagos State University LASU.

He has authored professional textbooks which include “PR Case Studies: Mastering The Trade and “Teaching without Teaching” while his forcoming book is titled 2Public Relations: An historical perspective.”
