NGO Commissions Boreholes for Young Inmates at Borstal School
A Non-Governmental Organization – Habibat foundation has donated a borehole to borstal institution in order to ease the conditions of custodial measures.
The foundation is looking in the direction of supporting the effort of the federal government in easing the conditions of custodial measures. The foundation donated and commissioned a borehole at Borstal Institution Abeokuta, a juvenile correctional institution for young offenders.
The institution is a juvenile arm of Nigerian Correctional Service meant for the training and correction of young offenders to align with societal norms and standard, thereby becoming better members of the society.
The founder of Habibat foundation – Alh. Abdul Rasheed Sunmola said that he was glad that the foundation was able to provide portable water for the institution.
The water challenge was noticed during the team constant visitations and when they embark on the mosque project for the institution, where the shortage and rationing of water was observed.
In his words, water is very important and paramount in our daily lives, it is essential in every household hence the need for these young minds to have access to water- adequate supply in quality and quantity to improve daily hygienic status through portable water for drinking, washing, bathing and any other basic needs that requires the use of water.

The event was witnessed by Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo – the Okukenu IV (the Alake and paramount ruler of Egba land represented by the Olu of Obada town, Alhaji Engr. Abdul Hammed Olufemi Omotayo- chairman of the day, Imam Abdul Rahman Ahmad- lecturer and special guest of honor, siddiquat foundation and many other organization were represented.
Alhaji Engr. Abdul Hammed Olufemi Omotayo, the chairman of the occasion says that he was glad to be a party to the commissioning of the borehole and admonished the boys to be steadfast and look forward to a brighter rewarding future.
He promised to assist the institution in ensuring that the boys become better citizens.
The goodwill message was delivered by the Alake and paramount ruler of Egba land, His Royal Majesty Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo through his representative the Olu of Obada town, who appreciates the effort of Habiba foundation for the series of intervention programs embarked on from the inmates in correctional facilities, motherless babies home, and the aged.
The Controller of Correctional Service and the principal of Borstal Institution CCS V M Fatodu (Mrs.) appreciated Habibat foundation for the kind gesture towards the institution and the invited guests for gracing the occasion.
She called on other organisations and individuals to support the institutions in whatever way they could.
