Police in Massive Arrest of Criminal Elements in Abuja
This is the Command maiden press briefing for the year 2020.
2. The core of the Command mandate is to ensure the security and safety of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.
3. The FCT Police Command has developed strategic and proactive policing measures to provide adequate security for residents of the FCT and ensure that the year 2020 is a remarkable one in terms of security.
4. It is pertinent to state that the Command has drawn a comprehensive plan to include key community stakeholders that will collaborate with it to nip crime in the bud.
5. While reassuring members of the public of our unflinching commitment to ensure safety of lives and property in the FCT, I want to emphasize that the Command will continue to review its policing strategy to meet up with the yearnings and aspirations of FCT residents.
7. I want to particularly advice all persons nursing the thought of perpetrating any criminal act in FCT that they should either beat a retreat, and repent for good or be prepared to be dealt with in accordance with the appropriate sections of the law, when arrested.
8. I want to appreciate all stakeholders who have been supporting the Command in its on-going crime fighting drive, which has continue to yield positive result.
9. Below is a highlight of some noteworthy achievements recorded by the Command in the last couple of weeks:-

ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS/CULTISTS
In furtherance with the on-going effort of this Command to check the menace of cultism in some communities in the Federal Capital Territory, operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) acting on credible intelligence have arrested nine suspected cultists that are notorious for terrorizing Karimo and its environs. The suspects who were all arrested in Karimo include: one Lucky Ejinung 22years, Ifeanyi Okenwa 30 years, Joseph John 25years, Ikechukwu Ibe 23years, Okoro Johnson 22years, Ikechukwu Onu 25years, Monday Audu 23years, Ikenna Nwenze 20years, Matthew Tanko 21years and Isa Mohammed 22years all male who all belong to the Aro baga confraternity were arrested in Karimo. The following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: one locally made pistol, two cutlasses, Saw Blade and one knife. The operation is an ongoing exercise. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF SERIAL RAPIST
On 17th January, 2020 at about 1900hrs, following a complaint, one Akan Bernard, a serial rapist was arrested by Police operatives from Durumi Division for attacking and raping his female victims in the bush around Area 3 junction. The suspect who operates mostly at night and has confessed to the crime was arrested after one of his victims on sighting him alerted the Police patrol who immediately swung into action and arrested him. Meanwhile, another victim has also identified suspect as the person who raped her some time back. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS
OPERATING AROUND NATIONAL MOSQUE/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 15th January, 2020, following a sting operation by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad have arrested eight suspected armed robbers operating around National Mosque. This is an ongoing operation by the Command to end the criminal activities of hoodlums who hibernate around the national mosque to attack and rob unsuspecting members of the public. The following suspects were arrested during the special operation, which will be a continuous exercise: one Aliyu Abubakar 20years, Musa Ado 35years, Abdul Kabir 17 years, Aminu Haruna 14years, Adam Awal 16years, Zayyad Isah 30years, Ismail Abubakar 16years, Yakubu Musa 15years all male of no fixed address. The exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one (1) pair of scissors, some quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, one (1) samsung S8+ and one (1) inifix smart.
RECOVERY OF FIRE ARMS
On 4th January, 2020, Police Operatives from Galadimawa division following a tip off recovered one (1) AK47 rifle, one (1) AR rifle, two (2) pump action rifle, four magazines, fourteen cartridges, seventy-three AK-47 ammunition, twenty-eight (28) AR ammunition and one (1) Hammer, concealed in bag that was buried in an undeveloped land located in Congo street Sun-city estate. Investigation is on-going.

On 3rd January, 2020 following a discreet investigation, Police operatives from Karu division arrested and recovered two locally made pistols from one Peter Emmanuel ‘m’ 25 years, a notorious armed robbery suspect, who alongside members of his gang (now at large) are wanted by the Division for armed robbery and other criminal offences. Another milestone recorded in this case is the arrest of one Musa Muhammed who receives and sells items stolen by the gang. The following exhibits have been recovered from the principal suspect: two (2) locally fabricated pistols, six (6) rounds of live ammunitions, three (3) unexpended cartridges, one (1) touch-light and some charms. Meanwhile, the Police is currently making concerted effort to arrest other members of the gang who are still at large.
Also, on 16/01/2020 at about 2230hrs police operatives from Lugbe Division following a sting operation arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects who specialized in attacking motorists along Lugbe flyover. The suspects one Samuel Achimi ‘m’ and Monday Solomon both males of no fixed address were arrested in possession one locally fabricated pistol and some charms.
Likewise, on 9th January, 2020, acting on tip off Police operatives from Jikwoyi Division in collaboration with operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) smashed and arrested members of a 5-man robbery gang that was terrorizing residents of Jikwoyi and its environs. The arrested suspects, one Kabiru Gimba 24years, Olaniyan Emmanuel 26years, Zakari Ibrahim 26years, Abubakar Muhammed 25years and Okoh Gabriel 22years, are notorious for robbing their victims of their phones, bags and other valuables. The following exhibits have been recovered from the suspects: one(1) Samsung tablet phone, one(1) techno tablet phone, two(2) inifix hot phones , two(2) Huawei phones, one(1) Nokia phone, two(2) Techno phones, one(1) Kgtel phone, one TCL phone, one (1) travelling bag containing clothes and one(1) Echolac box. Investigation is on-going.
Furthermore, on 18/01/2020 at about 1200hrs police operatives from Mabushi acting on tip off arrested one Ali Muhammed for being in unlawful possession of firearm. The suspect was arrested at Mabushi in possession of the locally fabricated revolver gun during a fight between him and one Hassan Nicodemus. The revolver gun has been recovered from him as an exhibit. Investigation is on-going.
Relatedly, on 31st December, 2019 Police operatives from Kuje division, acting on complaint, arrested one Yusuf Suleiman ‘m’ 22 years and Lukeman Umar ‘m’ 23 years members of a 3-man house breaking syndicate terrorizing residents of Kuje. Efforts are on top gear to arrest the fleeing member of the gang who is in passion of most of the items stolen by this gang. The following exhibits have been recovered from the suspects: one (1) large Samsung plasma TV and one (1) pumping machine.
Similarly, on 16th January, 2020 Operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) following a discreet investigation have arrested one Farouk Muktar ‘m’ 25 years at Gwagwalada for robbing one of his female victims at her house. The following exhibits have been recovered from the suspect: one (1) table top fridge, one (1) set of home theatre, one (1) standing fan and one (1) stabilizer.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED CAR SNATCHER/ RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 14th January,2020, Police Operatives from Kubwa Division, following a distress call, have arrested one Eze Ifeanyi ‘m’ 34 years while trying to snatch a Lexus Jeep from his victim at gunpoint. The suspect was arrested at Gbazango area of Kubwa. The exhibits recovered from him are: one (1) locally made pistol and one Lexus 300 jeep. The car has been released to it owner on bond. Investigation is on-going.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY/ CULPABLE HOMICIDE SUSPECTS
On the 14th January, 2020 Police operatives, attached to Life- Camp Division arrested one Auwal Umar ‘m’ 36yrs and Yahuza Isa ‘m’ 25 yrs members of a gang who specialized in dispossessing unsuspecting tricycle riders of their motorcycles. The suspects who attacked and hit the deceased with trailer spanner on the head, before robbing him of his tricycle, were arrested at Tafa (along Kaduna road) and Kano respectively.
The following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: one Tricycle and two trailer spammer. The suspects have confessed to the crime. They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF IMPERSONATOR
On 17TH January, 2020 following a complaint Police operatives from Gwarinpa Division arrested one Abdul Hassan Kadala ‘m’ 27years, who poses as an aid to the Senate President to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. The suspect was arrested at a bank in Gwarinpa while trying to withdraw money sent to his account, by a victim, as proceed of the crime. According to the suspect who fraudulently extort money from his victims under the guise of assisting them to secure government contracts, the total sum of four hundred and twenty thousand (420,000.00) naira have been paid into his bank account.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
On 18th January, 2020 acting on tip-off Police Operatives attached to the Surveillance team of Kubwa Division arrested Twelve (12) notorious armed robbery suspects; Paul Moses ‘m’, Auwalu Abubakar ‘m’, Nasifu Mohammed ‘m’, Oche Printed ‘m’, Sarajo Abdullahi ‘m’, Ibrahim Sani ‘m’ Abubakar Idris ‘m’, Abdullahi Ibrahim ‘m’, Husseini Musa ‘m’, Abdulrahaman Musa ‘m’ and Ibrahim Idris ‘m’ all men of no fixed address The suspects are behind a recent robbery incident in the area.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects are; Five (5) Cutlasses, Five (5) Plastma TVs, Fifty Five (48) Phones, Two (2) Laptop, one (1) Ipad and one (1) MP3
Investigation is still ongoing.
