Emir, Imams Donate to Covid-19 Emirate Palliative Fund
The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has set up a Ilorin Emirate Palliatives Fund to mitigate effect of the lockdown restrictions on the weak and vulnerable people of Ilorin Emirate, especially those with daily earnings and the aged.
To kickstart the contribution to the fund, the Emir personally contributed the sum of One Million Naira, while members of the Emirate Council and top Imams have also donated to the fund. The Emir has therefore appealed to all indigenes, residents, friends, groups, associations, clubs, corporate bodies and well wishers of Ilorin to donate generously to the Palliative Funds. The Emir reiterated that assorted food and medicals can also be donated as part of individual and corporate bodies contributions to the palliatives scheme.

The Emir said that his efforts in this direction is aimed at supporting the Federal and Kwara State Governments in providing stimulus to the people who are adversely affected by the lockdown which he said was reasonable and understandable because it would help to stem the spread of the deadly COVID-19 Pandemic which is presently ravaging the world.
The Emir praised and commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the bold and critical steps and efforts they are taking at containing the spread of the corona virus, and also provide stimulus to the people. The Emir urged the people to adhere strictly to all measures already put in place by the Government. He admonished the people to take the corona virus matter seriously because it is real and that the steps taken by Government are not punitive, rather they are aimed at saving lives.
The Emir said that the money realised from the palliatives fund would be used to purchase food items and distribute to deserving people of the Emirate, particularly at this period close to the month of Ramadan fast.
