Despite Covid-19, Police Hunt Armed Bandits in Zamfara

In its continued onslaught against Armed Bandits, Kidnappers and other criminal elements, the Zamfara State Police Command has succeeded in arresting a notorious Bandit/kidnapper in the person of one Junaidu Shehu “M” of FASA GORA in Bukkuyum LGA.

Credible information revealed that, the suspect has for long become a sort of worry to the inhabitants of the said Village and it’s environs, and that he severally conspired with members of his gang to perpetrate most of the attacks and kidnappings against members of the community.Several instances do abound of his active involvement in killings and kidnappings against the peace loving people of the area. These include;

Sometime in 2019, the Suspect in concert with other bandits at large invaded Fasa Gora village and kidnapped the daughter of the District Head of the village. The sum of One Million one Hundred thousand Naira was said to have been paid before the girl regains her freedom.

2. Similarly, In the same year 2019, the Suspect and his Co- conspirators brutally ambushed and killed Four (4) Vigilante members who were defending the village against all forms of attacks by the bandits.

3. Conversely, the Suspect, On 1st April 2020, he and his cohorts attacked the same village and killed substantial number of people. The Suspect is currently in Police custody and is assisting the police to arrest his accomplices or partners in crime. The Suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

JOINT TASK FORCE ARREST TEN SUSPECTS FOR EXTORTION AND MOUNTING ILLEGAL ROAD BLOCK
A Joint Security team led by Nyanya Divisional Police Officer acting on intelligence on Thursday 16th April, 2020 at about 1020hrs , arrested ten (10) suspects for mounting an illegal road block and using same avenue to extort money from motorists and other members of the public at the FCT/Nasarawa boundary.

2. The suspects were arrested by the security operatives of the COVID-19 lockdown enforcement team along Nyanya-Mararaba axis. The suspects are: one Idoko Rapheal,Obi Robert, Augustine Aber, Rapheal Ikyaabo, Stephen Ikpi, Omachola Uranje, Remigius Gosioha, Dyke Ifeanyi, Chinedu Nwoyi and Uzoma Mbadoha all male. The cash sum of seven thousand one hundred and eighty naira (N7,180) suspected to be proceed of the crime have been recovered as exhibit. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

3. While reaffirming its commitment to protect lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory, especially during the lockdown, residents are also enjoined to be security conscious and comply with the Presidential lockdown order, which is to curb the spread of the Corona Virus.
