Benue Chief Judge Frees 20 Prison Inmates
It was a jubilation galore as 11 and 9 Awaiting Trial Inmates (ATM) of Makurdi Maximum Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) were discharged and granted bail respectively by the chief Judge of Benue State and Chairman of Benue State Criminal Justice Committee, Aondover Kaka’an on 5/5/2020.
This is in keeping with the the custodial centres’ decongestion in  Nigeria to make custodial centres safe from the spread of Covid-19. This is continuation of what he started in Otukpo MSCC last week which 12 inmates benefited.
Those who benefitted in this exercise were those whose cases have lingered unnecessary in courts.
Justice Kaka’an appreciated all the committee members for complying with the policy of wearing facemasks as one of the measures to fighting covid-19.
In other to make it easy for tracing of released inmates  in case their cases are brought again to courts, the police brought their finger printing equipment for capturing the data of the released inmates.
