Finally, Anambra Police Boss Wades into Land Dispute between Schalla and Uruum Communities

Finally, Anambra Police Boss Wades into Land Dispute between Schalla and Uruum Communities

In order to prevent breakdown of law and order between Achalla and Uruum communities in Awka North LGA of Anambra State over the looming land dispute between the two Communities which has generated tension in the affected areas,the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP John B. Abang, fdc has today 14/5/2020 invited all stake holders of the two Communities over the looming crisis and wades into the matter.

2. Remote cause of the problem was the alleged tresspass of land belonging to Uruum Community by Achalla Community who also claimed ownership of same of land.

3. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang, fdc warned both parties to maintain peace and explore all the legal avenues to resolve the matter without resorting to violence.The CP further assured both parties that he would contact the State Government boundary Commission to key into the matter in order to ascertain the rightful owners of the disputed land.

In another development, Police operatives attached to Umuchu Division in conjunction with patrol team from MOPOL 29 PMF Awka while enforcing the COVID-19 Curfew in Umuchu,Aguata LGA intercepted one Ogbonna Chigozie ‘m’ aged 18 years from Uturu Okigwe LGA of Abia State but resides at Nkpor in Idemili North LGA, and Chimezie Afulor ‘m’ aged 33years from Akirra Umunokpa Uzowani LGA of Enugu State.They were intercepted at the border post in Umuchu inside a tricycle with registration number GDD 081 VC conducting themselves in a suspicious manner.

Suspects were immediately searched and the following exhibits recovered in their possessions,one locally made pistol with four rounds of life ammunition,one tricycle,house breaking implements and cash sum of thirty one thousand seven hundred and twenty Naira(#31,720).

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly snatched the tricycle from Nkpor and were trying to cross to Akokwa in Imo State before their arrests.

Meanwhile,the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc has ordered for immediate transfer of the case to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squard(SARS) for discreet investigation.
