NEMA Distributes Food Items to 656 IDP Households in Adamawa

NEMA Distributed Food Items for Two Months to About 656 Households in Camps in Adamawa

In continuation with the efforts to provide succour to the displaced in line with the agenda of minister of Humanitarian affair, Disaster Management and social development Hajia Sadiya faruk on welfare of IDPs, the DG NEMA, AVM Muhammad Alhaji Muhammad approved the distribution of food items for two months to about 656 households of Internally Displaced Persons in the three formal camps namely Fufore, Malkohi and St. Theresa Camps in Adamawa state.

The head of NEMA Yola Operations Office Mr. Midallah Iliya Annuhu in charge of Adamawa and Taraba flagged off the distribution at Fufore IDP camp on Wednesday 20th May, 2020. While speaking with newsmen during the distribution exercise in the camp, he mentioned that the Items distributed are as follows:
Fufore Camp (1,974 IDPs, 329HH)
Rice -329bags @50kg, Beans – 329bags @25kg, Soya Beans – 329bags @12.5kg, Tin Tomatoes – 110cartons, Seasoning (Maggi) – 105 cartons, salt – 33bags and Palm oil – 66 Kegs.

Malkohi Camp (1,285 IDPs, 239HH)
Rice – 239bags @50kg, Beans – 239bags @ 25kg, Soya Beans – 239bags @12.5kg, Tin Tomatoes – 80cartons, Seasoning (Maggi) – 77 cartons, salt – 24 cartons and Palm oil – 48 kegs

St. Theresa (528 IDPs, 88HH)
Rice – 88 bags @50kg, Beans – 88 bags @ 25kg, Soya Beans – 88 bags @12.5kg, Tin Tomatoes – 30 cartons, Seasoning (Maggi) – 28 cartons, salt – 9 cartons and Palm oil – 18 kegs.
The spokesman of the Agency Hafeez Bello added that the distribution is part of effort to make the displaced person comfortable during the Eid Fitr and to ease the hardship that may be brought to bear as a result of the lockdown to battle the covid 19 pandemic.

Mr. Bakura, the IDP chairman in fufore camp expressed appreciation to the DG, AVM Muhammad Alhaji Muhammad for coming to their aid especially as Sallah is fast approaching.
