NCoS, NSCDC, FFS Synergize in Bauchi
The Controller of Corrections Bauchi State Command, Suleiman T.Suleiman has emphasized on the need to maintain synergy amongst security agencies in Bauchi State for effective security management.
The Controller made this disclosure when the newly posted Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp Bauchi State Command, Susane R.Yavala paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He noted that already, there has been an existing working relationship between the NCoS and NSCDC and assured the Corps of his continued support and collaboration.
The NSCDC Commandant thanked the Controller for the warm reception accorded her and promised to work hand-in-hand with the NCoS.
In a related development, the new Zonal Commander in Charge of Zone C of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Bauchi, DCF Usman S. Yakmut paid a courtesy call to Controller of Corrections Bauchi State Command.
The Controller welcomed him and assured him of a good working relationship between the two agencies in the State.

NBA, NCOS Colloborate on Correctional Act 2019
In line with the implementation of the new Nigerian Correctional Act 2019 signed into Law by His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, the Deputy Controller of Corrections incharge Non-custodial Service Plateau State Command, Mr. Folorunsho A. Mark, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Jos chapter, Mr. Yakubu S. Bawa today in his office in Jos.

This is in order to enlighten the NBA Chairman about the provisions of the new Act and to seek the support of the Association in the full implementation of the Act.
During the visit, the Deputy Controller of Corrections appreciated the Chairman for giving him audience and spoke extensively on possible areas of collaboration in order to ensure the efficient implementation of the non-custodial service in the state.
The Deputy Controller elaborated on non-custodial services such as parole, probation, community service and restorative justice which when fully implemented, would help decongest Custodial Centres across the state and Nigeria at large as well as reducing financial burden on government.
He also noted that the non-custodial service would enable offenders to be rehabilitated while serving their sentence in their communities, hence promoting their reintegration into the society.
Responding, the Chairman NBA, Jos Branch, Barrister Yakubu S. Bawa, appreciated the Deputy Controller and noted that his visit was apt and timely considering the fact that they have been working on their own part to sensitize the Association’s members on the new Nigerian Correctional Act 2019 and the non-custodial service. He said that efforts would be made to organize a seminar/workshop for lawyers and the judiciary where a platform will be given to the Deputy Controller and his team to sensitize them more.
In conclusion, the Chairman assured the Deputy Controller of Corrections of the Association’s support and promised to expedite action towards making the discussions a reality.
