NDA Provides Boreholes, Palliatives to Kaduna Communities

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has donated 2 boreholes and distributed palliatives to 2 communities in southern Kaduna State. The donation formed part of Civil Military Cooperation activities for Exercise Camp Highland 2020.

The 2 boreholes were located at Kuturan Buzu communities in Kachia Local Government Area. Similarly, Maro community of Kajuru Local Government Area benefited from refurbishment of a tricycle ambulance for its Primary Healthcare Centre and got other palliatives as well.

Other items donated on Saturday by the NDA to the 2 communities included treated mosquito nets, blankets, face masks, cartons of NDA-made hand sanitizer and mattresses.
The items were handed over to Kachia and Kajuru Local Government chairmen as well as the representative of Agwam Adara by the Commandant, Maj Gen Jamil Sarham.

Maj Gen Sarham said the intervention was part of the Academy’s corporate social responsibility to communities where the Academy conducts training activities. “It is a symbol of our appreciation for your support in training the future leaders of our armed forces.

“The NDA has over the years supported various communities as part of it’s Civil Military Cooperation responsibilities. “As Commandant, I am indeed proud to continue this noble tradition of NDA by providing support to communities in the area of medical services, water and sanitation.

“These interventions and outreaches, although not our primary mandate, are necessary for us to show appreciation to our host communities and all those who support and partner with us on the very important duty of transforming young men and women into professional military officers.”

Maj Gen Sarham added that the palliative would improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries, and urged personnel at the Maro Healthcare Centre to use the refurbished ambulance judiciously. The Commandant further noted that NDA remains conscious of its mandate of training cadets for the nation’s defence infrastructure. “This is why we have continued to improve on the training modules for cadets and inject more elements of realism into cadets training activities.

“Only recently, we completed a tour of the Frontlines in North East region with final year cadets to give them a first hand experience of realities in the Frontlines.” He disclosed that the performance of the cadets in the ongoing exercise was very encouraging.

“As we conclude activities for exercise camp highland with battle inoculation and firepower demonstration in a few days time, I remain confident that our cadets will put up the best display of courage and prowess in carrying out military operations.” he concluded.

Likewise, the Commandant inspected cadets deployment at defensive area which is part of the Exercise. He expressed his satisfaction on the progress of the Exercise so far urging the cadets to drive home all the lessons learnt during the phases conducted so far.
