#RevolutionNow Protest: Army, Police, NSCDC Lockdown Abuja, Disperse Lagos Protesters

Nigeria’s seat of power, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is under partial lockdown by armed security personnel to prevent the planned RevolutionNow protest in the territory.

In FCT, a combined team of army, police, air force and some paramilitary personnel was deployed early in the morning on Wednesday to the streets of Abuja, thus, preventing the protesters from converging.

The leader of the group, Sowore, tweeting via @YeleSowore, said: “Police, army and airforce put Abuja in lockdown to frustrate #RevolutionNow.

“Police attack #RevolutionNow members at Unity Fountain in Abuja, protesters arrested and are being brutalized.”

Security forces fired teargas at ‘RevolutionNow’ protesters in Lagos on Wednesday morning.

The #RevolutionNow protesters had gathered at Ikeja Under Bridge holding a peaceful protest.
