Security Forces “Working Round the Clock” to Avert Resurgence of Terrorsists Attacks in FCT, Environs–CISA

Following reports of terrorsists invading the FCT and surrounding states, the Citizens Initiative For Security Awareness (CISA) has appealed to security agencies to ensure that all terrorists are flushed out of the nation’s capital and possible attack averted.

Chidi Omeje, Coordinator, CISA, while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday,  admitted that the FCT is not as safe as it should, but expressed hope that security forces are working round the clock to keep activities of bandits and terrorists in check.

He noted that the FCT has not witnessed any terrorist attack for several years and charged security forces to ensure that the capital remains safe.

“We actually heard reports of bandits  are coming close to the fact and environs, I want to believe that those whose job it is to take care of these things are actually working. For years now, have not heard incidence of terrorsists’ attack in the FCT, so we hope that security forces keep in check, keep them away.

Omeje also reiterated his appeal to Nigerians to support the military with information to aid the fight against all fotms of criminality.

“For us in CISA, the battle against the enemies of our country is not the battle for our soldiers alone. All of us men and women of goodwill have a role to play in the defence of our dear country from the machinations of the adversaries.

“Passing useful information to our fighting forces that will help them take out the enemies is a noble and patriotic thing to do. In so doing, you would have contributed your own quota in the war against those who are intent on destroying our country”, he said.

On the other hand, the coordinator said willful concealing of information that otherwise would have helped the security forces in their battle is not only unpatriotic but a clear sabotage and crime against our country.

“We therefore urge Nigerians, particularly those in the areas where terrorist activities and banditry are happening to remain observant and vigilant, and endeavor to say something when they see something.

“CISA wishes to reiterate that what our military and all other agencies that are engaged in the counter-terrorist operation and other internal security operations across the country need at this moment is unwavering public solidarity and support”, Omeje added.

He noted that all these will boost the morale and fighting spirit of security agents at all times.
