NEMA Provides Relief Materials to Sokoto Flood Victims

NEMA Provides Relief Materials to Sokoto Flood Victims

The Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed Relief Materials to victims affected by the recent flooding in some major communities of Tambuwal and Bodinga Local Government Areas in Sokoto state.

The direct distribution exercise of the relief support to the flood victims was conducted by the NEMA, SEMA and other delegated authorities from the respective affected areas.

The Director General NEMA, AVM Mohammed Alhaji Muhammad (Rtd) said the Federal Government’s approved relief materials is to support the victims to ameliorate their plight following the ravaging flood that destroyed properties and farm lands in the area.

The Director General who was represented by the Head of Information Unit, NEMA Sokoto Operations Office, Aliyu Muhammad said the relief materials consists of food stuff, building materials and other household items.

The relief items donated are 432 bags of rice & maize (12.5kg), 432 bags of Beans (25kg), 43 kegs of Vegetable oil, 22 bags of salt, 72 cartons of seasoning, 72 Cartons of Omo detergent, 864 pieces each of Mattresses, Blankets and Mosquito nets, others are 1200 bags of Cement, 1200 bundles of Roofing Sheets, 144 bags of 3″ nails and 432 packets of zinc nails.

The Special Adviser to the state governor on disaster management, relief and rehabilitation, Mal. Zubairu Magaji commended the federal government timely intervention to alleviate the suffering of the affected victims.

In attendance during the event are the sole administrator of Tambuwal LGA, Abdullahi Umar, Bodinga LGA, Abdullahi Muhammad, Director Genaral SEMA, Nasiru Aliyu and other top government officials were all present during the direct distribution to the flood victims.
